Push out-of-stock products down (and bring them back on restock)

Automatically move sold-out products to the bottom, and control what happens when they come back.

Written by David Farrington

Keeping sold-out products at the bottom of your collections is one of the most effective ways to improve the shopping experience. Ouiteo can do this automatically every time it sorts.

Turn on push-down for out-of-stock products

In a collection's sort settings, enable Push down out-of-stock products. From then on, any product at or below your stock threshold is moved to the bottom whenever the collection sorts β€” both on a scheduled auto-sort and when you click Sort Now. You can set the inventory threshold so that, for example, products with 0 in stock (or fewer than a number you choose) get pushed down.

What happens when a product is restocked

You have two behaviours to choose from:

  • Re-sort normally (default). When stock returns, the product re-joins the collection and is ranked by your chosen sort type, just like any other in-stock product.

  • Return to its previous position. If you'd rather a restocked product go back to the exact spot it held before it sold out, enable the return to previous position option. This is designed to work with the Manual sort type, where positions are fixed; with automatic sort types, restocked products are re-ranked by the rule instead.

Apply it to many collections at once

If you want push-down enabled across lots of collections, you don't have to open each one. Use bulk update to apply the same settings to many collections in one go β€” see Mass update collections / bulk sort collections.
