Sort by Most Viewed, Best Seller and Revenue (and when you need Google Analytics)

Which data-driven sort types use Shopify orders, and which need a Google Analytics connection.

Written by David Farrington

Ouiteo's data-driven sort types fall into two groups depending on where the data comes from. This is the most common reason a sort "doesn't seem to work" — the data it needs isn't connected yet.

Sorts that use your Shopify order data

These work as soon as you have order history — no extra connection needed:

  • Best Selling (units sold)

  • Revenue and Net Revenue

  • Worst Selling

Order data refreshes regularly throughout the day, so best-seller and revenue rankings stay current automatically.

Sorts that need Google Analytics

Anything based on shopper behaviour on your site requires a Google Analytics (GA4) connection, because Shopify doesn't provide this data:

  • Most Viewed (product page views)

  • Add to Carts and Checkouts

  • Conversion ratios — view-to-cart, cart-to-checkout, view-to-purchase, and similar

If you choose one of these without GA connected, there's no data to rank by. Connect your account first — see Connections - Google Analytics.

What to expect after connecting GA

  • On the first connection, Ouiteo imports roughly the last 90 days of analytics data, then keeps it up to date automatically.

  • It can take a short while after connecting for the data to be ready — if a Most Viewed sort looks empty right away, give it some time and sort again.

  • If you disconnect Google Analytics, any collections using GA-based sorts are switched back to a standard sort (such as Best Selling) so they keep working.
